Doesn’t it seem like every new G5222 owner’s first decision is to figure out how they are going to mod it? It seems like they just don’t have enough “Zoom-Zoom” right out of the box!!!

So I have a request… Why doesn’t Gretsch utilize what’s right in front of them and let BZ plug his ’55 into one and let him get his Dr. Frankenstein on and build us all a certified shredder!!!

How sweet would that be??? I don’t care if it’s a limited run but if they can do it by adding just $200 to the MSRP I have a feeling it would sell based on the Gretsch Pages faithful alone.

BZ, one more request…. If this ever comes to fruition… I get mine at cost

We've got a lot of signature guitars, but here we have a guy who is not only known for his guitar but for his amps. Considering the people who have sought out Billy to do their amp work, and his undeniable knowledge of the subject, I'll bet that would be one heck of an amp.

I don't know how Gretsch feels about this but I think it's a great idea.

Yeah, the Gretsch line of amps is really lacking and limited. Not that the amps they currently offer are bad, but I remember seeing catalogs with a lot more variety. Give us something useful like Fender does with a different tone stack than theirs and some real tubes and all of that with a price we can afford. We already pay enough for the guitars, so make a good solid budgetish amp. Maybe around $1000 instead of starting at around $2000+. Victoria obviously has something to do with that and I am sure they are great amps, but I've never even seen one in my local music stores. They are price prohibitive for vendors to stock something that's not being played by the masses, like fender or marshall... Good luck Billy and I hope somehow you can make it happen!!! You have my support 100%!!!

This is interesting! Billy if you were to do this and just for the sake of BS-ing here what do you think you would build? I myself want a single channel with as clean a board as possible in the 30-40 watt range. No verb no trem just tone out the wazoo and all the grit in the guitar volume knob!

I have a G5222 I am in the middle of modifying. But then again I have modified every amp I have ever owned except for one.

As far as Gretsch amps, the offerings are sparse but you have to remember that Fender is the power behind Gretsch these days. And Fender has quite a few amps of their own for sale. If they put the Gretsch name on any, they probably have to pay the owner of the Gretsch some money.

Joe - If you are following this post - PLEASE LET BILLY ZOOM DESIGN AND BUILD US SOME AMPS

Let's be logical about this - We have a guy who has played Gretsch guitars live for decades, WITHOUT an endorsement, who modded one classic amp and then built another SPECIFICALLY TO GIG WITH A JET, who is about to get a signature guitar, who is a guitar legend, and whose credentials as an amp tech and builder are impeccable. And, HE WANTS TO DO SOME AMPS FOR YOU.

Gretsch would be the only single line of business I can think of that has a guy with BOTH signature guitars and amps that he had input into designing. In this guy's signature guitars and amps, he's not content to just slap his name on an existing and topically modified product, but he seems to be very concerned that design elements be exactly correct for what the instrument/amp is supposed to be doing.

Can you think of anybody better qualified? I can't.

I think this makes nothing but good sense! I wouldn't want a re-badged Fender and the current line up will never come down in price as good as they are. Fender, Gretsch & Victoria have to split the profits on those. I would be interested!

And BZ in my e-mail I stressed MONSTER sound thats PORTABLE as what I would like out of your line. You can make a stack but don't forget that most of us carry our own gear and I would think that a solid twin 12" would satisfy most of the Gretsch Faithful's "BIG" needs.
