A friend of mine recently gave me a an american standard Telecaster, mainly because he felt the truss rod was seized. After trying to set it up properly and checking the truss I realized that the truss was just "bottomed out" or there are no more threads left to decrease the relief in the neck.
I have read that you can put washers between the truss nut and the rod to lengthen the rod. However this has a biflex rod which would require removing the rosewood plug at the neck, removing a pressed in metal gate behind the string nut.
Before going through all that I was going to try the method described below, I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this or has any thoughts on it at all.
Thanks Jeff
