OK, let me start by saying that this invitation extends worldwide from the roundups in the west to the jets in the east, from the falcons in the north to the penguins in the south, this invitation leaves no member uninvited.

Fieldhdj is nice enough to be looking for a venue for us to all meet in Nashville and I know I'd like to see it happen. It would be really cool to meet with you fine folks face to face and be humbled by your no-doubt awesome guitar playing. I know I want to come and will do everything I can to make it and the only way I won't is if I get called away on business all of a sudden.

Anyhoo. This is the thread, the central thread regarding the Nashville Jam so please, everyone post in here if you'd like to go (maybe even the ones who have already said so on the Southeast thread so we only have to look at this one to confirm) or whatever else you have to say.

I look forward to this!

And in case anyone was wondering, I was serious about bringing ear plugs. I play pretty soft but I think I'm in the minority so if anyone needs them I'll try to remember them.

As said in the other thread, anytime after Memorial Day is probably ok with me.

For anyone who's never been to Nashville, it's a pretty cool town and you'd probably want to allow a little extra time to see some things. My brother worked at the library of the Country Music Hall of Fame for a few years, mostly helping would-be's, like Steve Earle at the time, find records in the collection. His first marriage (my brother's, not Steve's as far as I know) took place next to Elvis' pink Cadillac that was on display there. No lie.

But let me ask the inevitable question- what about wives, er spouses, kids, etc.? I can't see having a bunch of young kids running around, but wives and older kids are ok with me. My wife would probably enjoy turning this into a 4 day weekend in Nashville. Plus, I see an opportunity to buy a bass & amp- "please baby, the boys can't seem to come up with enough basses and I saw one real cheap on ebay"

Whatever the group decides is fine. I can't absolutely promise to show up but intend to. And since it appears that Pappy is USAF, I certainly hope he is not called away on 'business.' BTW, do they still fly B-1's out of Warner-Robbins or am I just revealing that it has been 10 years since I used to go to Macon once a week Pappy?

We're looking at a couple of venues.

We have request in to the Ryman, the Amphitheatre in Centennial Park, and some private property where we could have a two day thing. Lots of factors here, of course, but we're just gathering as much information as we can.

Suggestions are appreciated of course.

They don't fly the B1 here anymore, bigsby. But that doesn't stop the training squadron from bragging that they USED to teach B1 stuff. Everywhere you look you're reminded that they seem like they enjoyed themselves a lot more before we came in. Apparently we're not exciting enough. Not that they're wrong.

The 7th & 8th MAY be good for me, though I might have to be in Chstn SC on the 4th, 5th, or 6th. Business trip; wife would probably go since we haven't been to Chstn. You'd think that would dovetail with Nashville, but there could be logistical problems.

The following weekend would be fine for me as well, possibly better.

The Ryman would be amazing, though possibly embarrassing – as it does suggest a certain responsibility.

I would love to be part of this, however it works out.

When you're in the Military, excitement can be a not so good thing. At least, when I was in, I preferred those long streches of boredom over those minutes of terror.

Quick questions for the interested.

If camping (with civilized amenities, like showers) was available, would this be good for you?

If there were a small fee, say something under $15 per person (assuming we have 30 or so), to offset venue costs, etc. would this be a showstopper?

If we could have our Jam recorded, at least audio, would that be important to anyone?

EDIT: I didn't think of kids when we started this discussion, but it would be a shame if someone opted out because of no babysitter. My 15YO is coming, but as a drummer and guitar player.

When I pray I pray for boredom. I learned a long time ago that excitement can go to anyone else who thinks they want it. I'm happy with monotony.
- I wouldn't mind camping at all, ESPECIALLY if it cut down on prices.
- If I can make it out there, I'd certainly hope 15 bucks wouldn't break me.
- I would love to have audio. I imagine it would be talked about quite a bit to my family members and I assume at least some of you will prattle on to your loved ones about it too, eh?

I am all in assuming that I can go at all and could kick in at least $100 if everyone else did. But if I show up, that will probably mean that my wife is in tow and she isn't much into camping. Maxwell House is much more likely destination for us since she isn't about to rough it.

Money is tight right now for me and the drive alone and a hotel will cost me a pretty penney too. If I can't come due to that reason, let me know and I'll just stay up here in good old NJ! Thanks.

I think this should be an all day thing too. Something like starting at around 10 a.m. for the meet and greet/setup etc.. and then jamming and picking from around noon onto maybe 9 or 10 p.m.? I'm just throwing ideas out there, but to me that would be awesome!

Chris, I was thinking that same thing.

They have rooms with two beds.

But only if the Nashville Cats would have us.

Memphis(Sun Studio) is only a couple hundred miles away...and while we're out there, so is Muscle Shoals...

If you can carve the exact dates in stone over the next 7-10 days, then I can tell you whether I will be likely to show up. If I am going to show, then I wouldn't mind subsidizing any US military personnel who want to go for $50 a piece up to a total of 20. Obviously, that means after the fact once I have met each one in person in Nashville at the event, but I will stand behind the offer if I commit to being there for once and for all. Maybe some of you other guys would like to match me?

May is less good for me than early June. Yes, I think it should be a day-long event so we can hang out and enjoy some company...and do some playing. Also, some people will come and go, and that's good too.

There are some parks in and about the area, like Franklin, which may have stand-alone air-conditioned pavilions and, perhaps, some surrounding trees for shade under which to dine on some worthy grub. I will kick in some cabbage for the cause.

But I should address this again later...when I am free of the effects of Calvados and know what the heck I am typing and telling people.
