Fantastic guitars in abundance... vintage amps everywhere... now add LEGENDARY British blues guitarist & leader of Savoy Brown, Kim Simmonds!
WOW!!! Mr. Simmonds was in great form and played a rock’n set at one of the two outdoor stages that were set up with an audio system that sounded amazing while shaking your body with low-end frequencies. I’ve been a Savoy Brown fan since my early teens and was delighted to learn Kim (in foreground wearing white shirt) was scheduled to perform.

You saw it here FIRST!
Please don’t go to your local Gretsch dealer just yet asking for this amp because THEY don’t even know about it.
YOU, the privileged few of the GDP got a sneak preview of the “limited production” 125th Anniversary “Variety” amp that will officially be launched at summer NAMM in Nashville.
Yes, internally it’s our G6164 Variety amp (Class A, 40 watts, ALL tube, 3-ten inch Jensen speakers, point-to-point wiring and hand built in the USA by the fabulous folks at the Victoria Amplifier Company), but dressed to the nines in White with Silver Sparkle vinyl covering & gold piping with the special “G” treatment on the grill cloth.

Well gang, I hope you enjoyed this little expose of the 31st annual “Dallas International Guitar Festival”. I met some wonderful people, saw some unbelievable vintage gear, and witnessed some mind-blowing guitar playing. It was an event I will never forget for the rest of my life. For the rest of your life, you ask? Why so dramatic, Carducci?
Well you see… not only did I go with our crew one night to Elm Street and see the very spot where John F Kennedy was assonated and personally examine the grassy nowl area while contemplating the 2nd shooter theory… a small group of us the previous night had a private dinner with Maria Elena Holly… the widow of Buddy Holly. Like I said, it was an event I will never forget for the rest of my life.
Over & out!
