as all of you can see below,joe has verified that my story is true,and that the 5122 is made at the SPG factory.

it was getting out of hand and i had to call him.

to all of you that stood by me,and there were many,i thank you very much. i needed some support and you guys stepped up. thanks.

to those of you that did nothing but blast me i will admit i dont get it,i did nothing wrong to anyone here.

i love gretsch guitars,most of you guys do also i hope.

some of you have a big helping of crow on your plate.

i know im a man of my word.

i know if im wrong,im man enough to say so.

so lets see who steps up and admits they were wrong.

it might not be easy,but maybe some have the stones for it.

maybe then i can be welcomed as a fellow gretsch owner,that joy was taken from me so far.

bluesman, the 1st sentence had me laughing and I was on a conf call.

As for the 2nd, there were plenty here who welcomed you but I bet if you let the doubters off the hook this whole thing will blow over.

A Orange Annie wouldn't have no wood bound headstock with a horseshoe! Wouldn't have no fancy F-hole bindings, wouldn't have no flashy Gold Hardware, and sure wouldn't have no gold pup surrounds unless it was a "genu-wine" 50th anniversary, "Golden Anniversary" Orange Annie!

No skeptics here! I'm just makin' fun of the guitar that I'm building! Besides; I never doubted the SPG situation for a moment since I'd seen both SPG and Samick listed in the GDP. I was just trying to find out the connection between the two, and if a prototype would have a different kinda S/N!

Nope; no skeptics here! I rather enjoyed your story and was happy to take you at your word about having the only orange 5122 in existence.

So yup; welcome to the "Orange Side"!

Very nice guitar and the most important thing is that you enjoy it. But please don't make Joe regret doing this for you and you shouldn't have to prove anything to anybody. We're just a few faceless people that come and go and it shouldn't affect your attachment to this guitar.

Bluesman, I'm happy for you as a gretsch owner, and never doubted that you had the guitar, but this is like 6 threads on it already....are they going to end anytime soon?

I yield to no one in my appreciation of your new guitar and its story, and my sincere congratulations to you b-man, but it could be there's enough 5122DCO threads, yep.

Let this be yet another reminder that no one but NO ONE appreciates the smell of vindication other than the guy claiming it.

It's kinda like sitting in the throne room in a cloud of your own fartacious effusions. You may enjoy them, but they're generally offensive to others!

let me be clear with this whole thing.

the fact that i was pretty much backed into a postion where i really had to defend myself is the reason for all these posts that some of you now dont like.

here are the facts:

i posted my story,both parts two weeks ago,i have been so busy as of late that other then my post in the vintage section i have not had much free time.

its the nasty people that chose to blast me on that thread that caused the whole thing.

NOT ME!

i felt better sharing my story last week and that was enough for me.

it was a shame that i had to ask joe to come on here to prove i was telling truth.

as far as me making joe regret he let me purchase the guitar,joe knows me well,he read the threads and was pretty surprised at how nasty some people had become.

so joe knows full well i sure did not start any of this stuff.

those of you that started all the nasty stuff are the ones that should be ashamed.

joe told me his take on why this happened,i agree with him.

so dont try to spin this against me,joe is a pretty sharp guy,he knows just what took place.

it only makes you look worse in his eyes to spin this whole thing on me.

so,if anyone wants to step up and speak like a man without the spin fine.

if some want to try to turn it on me thats on them.

the shoe dont fit and i aint wearing it.

and if thats the case i dont care how long this goes on.

so im willing step up,it takes two people,not one.

i feel if both partys are well intended in any argument,it can be worked out.

if not it cant.

At this point, bluesman, I think that the best thing to do is just to let things die out on this and your other threads. You have been vindicated, if that is really what it was, through Joe's post, and to a lesser extent through Proteus's post.

At this point, I don't see that there is any argument that exists or that needs to be worked out with anyone, including Tommy. Just go on and post about other topics and, hopefully, you will find that everyone has fully accepted you, your great story and your new guitar, which I am sure they will.

And, if someone on the GDP has not accepted you, then you just steer clear of them. The GDP is no different than other aspects of life...there are some people who, despite your best efforts to be friendly to them, they just don't want to be your friend and so you just talk to those that are friendly with you and forget the others. As I tell my children, you can't make everyone like you and you just spend your energy and your time on those people who ARE your true friends.

Welcome to the GDP (even though you have been posting on here for months now) and I hope that your experience here, notwithstanding this little bump in the road, is a good one.

I know I'm going to regret this so please accept my resignation from everything DC but my parting word:

Blues, this entire experience has become a drag for everyone. Since the start of this it's been very passive aggressive. Even the point that, maybe I missed it, the guitar was not sold but given to you. My point with JC was to keep him out of this argument and now you're implying that he GAVE you this guitar and somehow you don't see this as a problem for him.

If you feel you must continue to beat the dead horse you have one less in the audience.

My sense on this is that whatever bluesman and Joe C worked out between them (and I hadn't gotten the impression from his prior posts that it was a gift to him) is between them. Obviously, by Joe coming onto the GDP and legitimizing bluesman's story, he was a willing participant in the transaction and, as long as Joe C is happy, I'm happy.

But, let's all just allow this thread to die a natural death, rather than continue to flog it unmercifully.

and curt,you are very wrong,my story from two weeks ago has not become a drag for everyone,maybe for you and SOME others,not everyone.

you are another spin doctor,if you look at the respones for both parts of my story you will see it is pretty much all POSITIVE!

that was two weeks ago! it would have stayed postive if not for those that invaded my thread in the vintage section!

wake up dude!

if they would have left my very simple thread alone and on topic non of this even happens.

its clear who started the whole mess,IT WAS NOT ME.

i have been in touch with guys off-line and they all know i did not start this.

Bluesman, chill... I know it may seem like a big deal to you right now, but I read the posts and it really wasn't that big of a deal. Not saying it didn't hurt or annoy or whatever, I'm just recommending that you let this go and simply move on. Carrying on about is really only making things worse, honestly. The point of this forum is to have a good time and you shouldn't let anyone rain on your parade. Enjoy your new guitar and don't worry about what the skeptics think. I feel that the whole thing started with a misunderstanding anyway, so please just let it go. It's not worth arguing on the internet. Joe Carducci confirmed it, so let's just wipe our hands of this and seriously relax. It's not a big deal. I know Curt personally and he's not a bad guy, just as you aren't. Let's just keep it neutral, even when people may not believe you. If I said I put a 4th pickup in my Country Club nobody would believe me either, but that would only make me laugh when I proved them wrong, not get all bent out of shape over it. Have a beer and mull it over. Really, it's not worth it. I've had my share of conflicts on here and have learned to deal with them. We are all human and people make mistakes. Enjoy the forum and welcome!

my guess is most of the good guys here know in there heart what took place here.

the actions of a few ill-intended people are painting this site in a bad light.

instead of blaming someone who DID NOT START THIS.

why dont all the good folks here that know what was done was wrong,rise up against the few nasty people that took control of this site.

i know they would not stand a chance.

i have been posting here for a year,i stand with proteus,and all of the really fine gentlemen that are on this site.

you can find what they did to me yesterday anywhere on the net,this site has been special.

its what led me here in the first place,that it is special.

now,we all know that train wrecks like yesterday are good for ratings,as humans we are drawn into things,a hockey game aint a good game without the fight,is it.

so,in the short term the dust-up gets everyone on the edge of there seat. after all,even here you can run out of things to talk about.

in the long term it hurts this site,because this site is not based on that stuff.

i remember a fella two weeks ago that read my 5122 story,he said bluesman,this is the best story ever on the GDP.

it made me feel good,i did not get all puffed up over it,instead i was happy that my words took him right there with me and made a fellow gretsch lover smile,he understood because he loves gretsch as i do.

thats the way my story should have ended,and it was ending.

indeed it had drifted off the front page,i was happy with the results.

it should have stayed that way,thats all i would have wanted.

so i say to all of the good guys here,take a stand,let the few know that what was done was WRONG!

it would make a great place even better.

if you dont it will just keep happing more and more,and to others.

we all have seen that before on other sites.

look,my intentions in all this was get a 5122dc into the gretsch line and share all the details and fun along the way.

thats me,not what others like to think im about.

in the gretsch world we are brothers in arms, im a wounded one right now,thats all.

I haven't weighed in on any of this, and while I can't speak for everyone here (or really....anyone but myself), I bet that most would agree with the following statement:

Congrats on a cool story, getting an excellent guitar, especially by such interesting means, and I hope you enjoy your new DC.

I have a new guitar (a Corvette) on the way as well, and I'll do like most people on here do: show it off, talk about it a little, and then get back to enjoying it, whilst everyone else enjoys their very own axes. Yours has a neat story, but to me, my Corvette on the way is the most important guitar in the history of the Gretsch company. Why? Well, because it's on the way to my door! I'm sure you feel the same about yours (as you should).

Now--let's all get back to our regularly scheduled programming of general Gretsch talk.

And, since I haven't said it before, welcome.

I'm not blaming anyone, I don't care who started it and I just wish that you would enjoy the guitar instead of blaming someone. I consider myself a good person, but I don't feel the need to stand up to anyone about this trivial issue. I didn't read every post in the original topic, however, even if it were the worst profanities ever, I still don't think carrying on like this is going to do much good. If you have a beef with someone, take it outside with a private message instead of trying to publicly humiliate them. It's really a dead horse now. Sometimes there are neither right's nor wrong's, but merely opinions.
