Here's one I hadn't heard of before. They look to be extremely well put together. All the right goodies. Anybody heard any of these live?

I have not heard of these folks but I like the idea of including a flight case. Also the CSA inspection is reassuring safety wise; maybe not as reassuring as a CE mark but more than what many small shops offer.

The flight case is a nice touch. Nice looking turret board construction. Beautiful lead dress. Attractive cabinets. I just thought it nice that our neighbors to the north are doing the boutique thing.

Love the name -- looks like solid construction. If I may force upon you my two cents.. What always stopped me from purchasing unknown boutique amps was simply resale-ability. If I pay $2500 for a swampdonkey and then want to sell it 2-5 years later I'm going to take a massive hit compared to better known boutique names such as Matchless, Top Hat, Dr. Z, Bad Cat, etc. When I think what you could do with $2500 on the vintage market -- woo-wee! And you would have something that would appreciate in value. However, I understand if the vintage market doesn't offer you the versatility you are looking for.

Hi all!
I'm the designer / builder of Swampdonkey Guitar Amplifiers and I just dropped in to mention that there's a review of the M50 on Harmony Central done by a Calgary area guitarist. You can link to it directly from my webpage. I'm working on getting a variety of sampled sounds online too. Just so I can do the best job possible on this, please let me know what kind of presentation for this works best for you.

I'm replying to my own post...
I've been drueling over the Electrosonic Amp models for over a year, but just can't bring myself to spend the money on a Fireball head/cab when I could get quite the vintage something for the same money. Which, though Fireball is a much more versatile box, I would feel like if it isn't THE AMP and I want to sell in a few years, I won't be able to re-coup anything near my $1700 purchase price.
Thoughts?

I think that based on your posts about the economics of amp buying, you should very carefully evaluate re-sale possibility before making ANY amp purchase as this is a major concern for you. The questions you are faced with include; what amps hold their value or appreciate best - look at the history for the vintage stuff and look at the general record for boutique. I'd guess that most boutique amps are a riskier investment unless the company has a long established record of success for you to review. Other issues include how well a product is made and how easy it may be to get parts / service for it. Some boutique stuff is just put together better. Some amps have all values concealed so it's a bitch to repair unless the builder is still alive and on the same continent as you.
If money weren't such an issue, you could buy based only on tone and looks. Wouldn't that be nice for all of us!!! There's no reason you couldn't buy amps with a future profit in mind (or at least not losing your shirt!), but you gotta put in a lot of research.
Myself, I'd only be looking at Vintage because I like the tone of a particular amp - and I am confident I'd get my money out or profit anytime in the future. Lets face it: Limited Supply, antique... That always goes up...and I can build anything else I can imagine or build a good clone if I really wanted to.
Good hunting!
