I just wanted to hear from whoever has one of these amps. I'm considering one because what I want is about a grand more. Just looking for opinions! Thanks!

My opinion - save money til you get the thousand to buy what you REALLY want.
Second opinion - go to guitar center and tell them you know someone in Michigan that bought one from them for $599. That's what we paid in February (might have been a seasonal clearance).

I've played a few SuperSonics and I've always been positively impressed with them, espeially the Bassman voicing. The overdrive channel is very high-gain, not something you'd think of as typically Fender, but it sounds great.
Nonetheless . . . channel switching and multiple voicings in an amp always make me a bit nervous. There's just a lot more to go wrong. The Fender Hot Rod series amps developed problems over the years with spontaneous channel changing (actually, in this case it was probably more correct to think of it as a single-channel, multi-mode amp). It can be tracked down to the failure of a couple of big resistors but the problem was pretty vexing in its day.

In all fairness it's something that I would consider. I never liked channel switchers and never cared for Fender's version of dirt channels. After I posted this I was on the Allen site and they posted these sound clips of the Brown Sugar and I kinda liked it. The kit for head only is 899! I'll be hard pressed tho to get my eyes off the Tophat Ambassador and ToneKing Meteor! That's where the heart lays but I'm getting too damn anxious and my patience is running thin!

I played the supersonic a while back and loved it; I'm not one for bells and whistles either but I was seriously impressed by that amplifier. The price was just too much though. Although at $599 I wouldn't hesitate!

I own the Super sonic blonde half stack. I love it. The first thing you would do if you got the amp is change the tubes.
I put Tung Sols in mine and that made a good amp into a great amp. I tried an EH 12ax7 and it sounded even better again.
They're loud as hell. I'm seriously thinking about a Hotplate. I'm not overly impressed with the 2X12 cabinet. I've played it through Vox and Marshall quads and sounded better but the Fender 2X12 cab looks great.
I got mine off the 'bay for US $2100 and thats including US 700 for shipping.
Put a nice overdrive in front of either of those clean channel voicings and a white falcon and your on your way to tone heaven

I've played through one at a local shop and I really like it. I think they are way overpriced though. I wouldn't say it sounds like a Bassman either. I paid about the same for my '61 Bassman as they want for the Supersonic. I know there's no whistles and bells but if you want pure tone...

I had a Super-Sonic, just traded it for a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. The Super-Sonic was just to loud! Great amp just the same though

The Super-Sonic is a loud amp, I use mine with a Dr Z Airbreak.
A couple of "keys" to this amp:
1) the V30 REALLY needs to be broken in. I broke mine in by hand & it sounds fantastic.
2) the bias has to be correct... alot of the first runs were shipped with too-cold bias. Mine came with the bias a touch low.
3) good tubes. Not only good tubes, but lower-gain tubes, make this amp shine. I replaced the 2 tubes for the 2 channels (12AX7s) with 5751... big improvement.
I can get great sounds out of this amp now... rock, hard rock, rockabilly, not so much country or blues... I think it would take a speaker change to a Jensen-type speaker for that. I actually have a Weber 12F150 (Jensen C12N copy) that I'm going to install eventually...

Hmm, interesting to see this thread resurrected. I wonder what BZ would have to say about this amplifier.

I was on the lookout for a Supersonic untill I found my Engl Classic Tube 50.
It won't do hard rock and metal like the Supersonic but the 'hot bassman with a little JTM45 in it' tone of the Engl is awesome.

This one came back from the dead! Huh? When I started this thread I was looking for a head to match up with this cab
Loaded with a JBL D130 but I think 60 watts would be a be overkill for what I need. The blonde head would look sharp here tho' wouldn't it?
