Walter, what a "steal". You may use my name, if you wish
"Robbin'" an amp or guitar sure feels good

Hey Chris ! These guys are in your neck of the woods!
Well they're in Jersey anyway. No personal experience but I've heard good things!
RJ, thanks! Now that's a price I can live with...
Hey,Wenz. I listed my Swart on the GDP for $699.00. It's a Pure triode front end into a 6V6 all cleaned by 5Y3 tube rectification and you know how rockin' these amps are. Here's the GDP Link to the amp.
PM me if you're interested.
No problem! I'm saving for one of their blackface chassis to put in my Allen cab. I keep saying Deluxe but my inner demons say 64 Vibroverb!
Those are indeed good looking amps, Wenzel. I have found that amps are much like guitars to me - every time I see a different one, I want it!
I've got a '51 TV Front Deluxe Wenzel and it's the only amp I really use - my Vox AC10 and Blackface Vibrochamp just sit there looking resentful.
Mine has an earlier and less gainy circuit than the 5E3 you're looking at, but let's just say that since I got that Deluxe sorted I seem to have come to peace with the whole 'tone thang'. So now I have no more excuses for never getting around to learning to play properly
BTW I can personally vouch for the quality of Ceriatone's 5E3 clone. Great build quality, fantastic tone and tremendous value for money.
the fender tweed deluxe is the most touch sensitive amp made
its sweet and clean when playing gently and at the same volume and your attack becomes more aggressive it gets the crunch .
best guitar amp on the planet and possibly the most used amp in the recording studios .
Maybe Fred can answer this, does your tape echo have any effect on your tone? Is there a preamp on that unit?
I own a 65 Deluxe and find that anything I put in the path will affect what I hear.
Curt, yes, tape echoes have a preamp.
Hey Curt
My echoplex EP3 makes a big difference on the tone. The EP3 models are notorious for what they bring to overdriving an amp. A pedal was even made to mimic the EP3 circuit.
The tweed deluxe I use is a 58' with a Naylor speaker. Alessandro tunes it up whenever necessary.

I agree GREAT TONE.The tweed deluxe I use is a 58'
Man, if those "Chicken Pickin' amps are as good as they look....the Tweed Deluxe is an absolute steal at that price. The Fender Reissue is over $1,800.
I have no idea where they are located in New Jersey. I'm assuming they are somewhere up north. Considering the size of the state, it couldn't be anymore than a 2 to 3 hr drive from Wenzel's neck of the woods no matter how far north they may be.
With the Fender, you do pay quite a bit more for that badge. Lots of clones available of the same or better quality for less $$.
Gretschadelphia, I already ordered one... I'm going to try it out with my Carbon Copy delay, but if it doesn't sound good I'll have to find an Echoplex or RE-201 or maybe a Fulltone tape echo?
I got mine with the Weber speaker and FREE shipping... They're only 1 hour from here, so I could drive up there and pick it up...
Later, Chris
Fred, which input do you normally use, bright or normal?
On the 58 there are four inputs. Two for instrument and two for microphone. I use the first instrument input which has the most gain/power.
I would suggest having Alessandro tune up your new amp if you don't hear what you want when you get it home. He's quite good. Hopefully it will be nice right out of the box.
The EP3 series echoplexes do make a bit of difference in the tone as well.
Good luck!
Let me know how you make out.
Fred
Fred, I will definitely do that! Thanks for all of the advice! If I see you again at another Roundup, I'll let you try it out and maybe plug your echoplex into it and see what you think too, if you want to that is.
Which Naylor speaker do you have? Sorry to try and copy your tone, I just want to know in case the Weber doesn't suite my needs. Weber makes some great speakers, so I highly doubt that, but you never know and I am CRAZY anyway when it comes to gear... lol
Thanks Fred!
Hey Chris, If they are only an hour away, I'd go pick that sucker up myself (free shipping or no free shipping). Gas isn't cheap, but it's hard to put a price on piece of mind. Another thumbs up for Alessandro Amps. I've heard nothing but great stuff about him...great tech, nice guy and builds great amps. The shop where I bought my Duo Jet carries his "Working Dog" Series of amps and they sound amazing.
Yes, those CP amps are a STEAL!!
( I have built about a dozen amps, and it ain't cheap to do!)
G'Adelphi.
I don't have any worries about FedEx shipping it since he has a 30 day unconditional return policy. Also, it'll be packed well and insured. I haven't had any bad luck with shipping an amp yet and I've shipped some from Germany to the U.S. like my AC30 and Silvertone 1484.
I also asked twice if I could just go pick it up and I think his schedule is not aligning with mine and he didn't give me the option, hence the free shipping!
Hey Wenzel,
Sounds like you found exactly what you were looking for. I'm guessing your Carbon Copy will sound fine with the Deluxe clone but it may also turn out that you fall back in love w/ the Space Echo. What you really need to get next is a Fender Reverb Unit in tweed for your new Deluxe clone.
Marsh Amps is offering a 5E3 clone with reverb built-in, just like I did with that 5F11 I built not too long ago. CP used to do the same, but I don't see it on their website any more.

I don't know what theirs looks like, but this was my implementation of that idea.
G’Adelphi-A,
Do you know where you can get a great sounding reverb that can do surf and deluxe reverbish tones for under $500?
I was thinking the same thing, in tweed sitting on top of the combo!
Thanks, Chris
JB, that looks great! Did you design and implement the mod yourself? Congrats.
The Fender '63 Reissue Reverb Unit in blond tolex goes for around 580.00 on MF. I've seen other units from various boutique type companies in tweed, I just can't think of who right now. I'm sure they are not cheap. A company called VanAmps makes a tweed spring reverb unit in a large outboard pedal format (has actual accutronics spring reverb in it) but I have no idea of the price or quality.
