Nice! The EP3 is really gonna be a treat for you as well. They are so great. The solid state versions are reliable and they will really do a number for your tone. Now just get yourself a little honky tonk band and start playing all around philly for a few years. Then your new deluxe will be well broken in!
Here's how to break it in--Silk City on a weds night with the band. Echolpex is on the floor and deluxe is on a chair.

G Money (Fred),
Thanks... Yeah, after I drooled almost at the little shindig we had, I had to do something about it. It made that much of an impact on me. I need to find a bass player and drummer now since my drummer is moving to Japan and my upright bass player moved to Connecticut. Any ideas on the best way to advertise for band members? I'd also love to find a steel guitar player, but I'm not holding my breath since we're not in Nashville. I don't need smokin' hot musicians, I really am looking for dedication and consistency. They'll get better with practice. If they're already smokin hot at their craft, more power to them!
Thanks...
Chris
p.s. I wore my Gas Money shirt today for the first time. Thanks for the drawing and gift there Fred!

Now Wenz, you have to try a pair of "coke bottle" Westinghouse-Marconi 6v6's.
Unbelievable smooth overdrive when pushed

Really

Chris last week that lil' wooden box I brought had a Marconi in it but we didn't plug it in. Well at 4 watts it would have been swamped but that tube is worth the billing!

Wenzel: Good luck with that new tweed of yours! If you don't have reverb yet, the RI Fender tank certainly works. I have one, much modded, for my tweeds. The one alternative that truly has the tube, spring sound IMO is the Van Amps Sole Mate. It's on my pedal board. Quiet, excellent tone. It's perfect.
Me, I haven't gravitated to the deluxe per se, but to the larger tweeds. Like the 5E7, the Pro and the low power tweed twin. A pro type (Sewell Wampus Cat) has been my number one amp for years. Got a '57 fender RI tweed twin this year ... cannot say enough good things about this amp. Not just the sound, but the feel of that 2 rectifier setup. It does everything so well. Tweeds are addictive tone treats.

Here's a really quick, rough demo of the amp so far. The recording didn't do it that much justice. I have to learn how to record this little amp.

Even from that rough demo, it's easy to tell that amp has some serious tone. Nice to have something that'll do real power tube overdrive at reasonable volumes. Should sound monsterous with the Echoplex.

I opened the amp up tonight to put some vibration deadening felt washers between the back cover and the cab.

When I look at the back of a well wired amp I think how hard could that be to build. Then I wake up
Nice amp, It has the looks, it sounds great to me, I hope you enjoy it. Congrats

Nice amp! A 5E3 is a good build to learn on, but it's even better to start with a 5F1 Champ or something. My first build was 5E3x2 Double Deluxe, and it was a bit much for a beginner. I made a few mistakes... luckily nothing too bad!

JBGRETSCHGUY,
Can you really save enough money to make it worth while, or is it more of something you "do because you can".(for lack of a better words)?

Kit building is highly addictive. I build amps for fun and to see what kinds of cool things I can create. I'm also relatively poor, so it saves me money.
But CP and Marsh both offer pre-built amps for not much more than the parts cost. If I just wanted an amp to play and wasn't looking for a project, I'd buy from one of those two places.

Nice little demo...
Some wierd little sqeaky noises in there tho, completely distracted me from enjoying the tone
(Wenzel runs screaming into the night as his head explodes once again)
Kidding, Wenz. You sound great I like string noises they are part of the subtle goodness of anyones guitar sound, amp sounds cool looking forward to hearing the echo-plex

Oct 20, 2008 7:29 a.m. Walter Broes:
Well, "need" is relative of course, but having different size and style amps is very useful IMO.
I have a single ended 10-watter for home and recording, a 2X10 for small clubs, a 3X10 for most gigs, and a 4X10 Super Reverb for larger stages and open-air.
And I'm certainly not done buying amps yet!!
