Some hippie apparently saw Steve Morse's old Tele.
that is crazy...no P90 either...
What's the pickup above the humbucker? I don't think I've ever seen one of those. Yeah, if I was going to do something like that, this certainly wouldn't be my choice of pups. Maybe the lipstick tube, but I wouldn't use anything else on this guitar.
Is that a CrackoCaster?

It looks like a gibson firebird pu. I'm not sure about the 2 rivets though. Looking at it makes me ill.
I think it's a mini humbucker from the early 60's
i'm not sure whether to think of it as a Maxwell Street classic, or as a truly ill-advised attempt to use up everything in the parts drawer. it ain't no hippie guitar, though: no peace-sign, marijuana-leaf, or Grateful Dead/Phish logo stickers.
the more i look, the more i'm reminded of my friend Gwen's line (usually posed as a rhetorical question when, e.g., the girl in the movie goes down into the Basement O' Doom) : "is this really a good idea?"
Billy D, that was hillarious!!! ![]()

I'm voting for Helecaster.
Maybe that pickup that looks like a mini-humbucker has just two pole pieces to pick up the high & low E strings. And people complain that Gretsch guitars have complicated controls.
