i had an Eden body sitting around here. i was going to spray it with reranch lacquer, but it would take 4-6 weeks to cure before i could start buffing and polishing.
i decided to go ask a few autobody shops in my area and see if they would consider spraying it for me. the first place i went to said they would spray it for me just to see if they could do it. they led me to the cabinet where they had all their extra cans of paint from past paint jobs. i had tons of choices. i decided on a midnight blue metalic.
on the way back to the office, they showed me the flame work they were doing on an old hotrod. i asked if they could throw a few flames on my guitar also. they said they will see what they can do.
he called me the next day and said he put the epoxy primer on it and will be spraying the color the next day. 2 days went by, then he called again saying he gave the body to the airbrush shop.
he called me when it came back to the office. i went and took a look at it. boy...this thing is going to be Coool
he told me he would clear it the next day and i should have it back the day after.
good to his word, he called me last friday to say it was done. that was 5 days from start to finish.
he decided to put the rainbow flakes into the first coat of clear. then sprayed 2 more coats.
ok...here it is. this is the unbuffed, unsanded body. it looks like glass already. the flakes really come to life when you use a flash bulb or spot light.
and here is a link to other pics and a video showing the holagraphic sparkle in the clear.
i installed custom made lefty Joe Barden pickups and a vintage gloss WD neck.
