OK, OK,...I'm cheap. I admit that. I try to squeeze pennies so hard that Lincoln cries.
Perhaps it comes from having a Dad & Grand Parents that lived through the Great Depression and learned not to waste anything. I suppose some of those lectures seeped in through osmosis.
I can't drive by any place on trash night without slowing to take a look at what they have.I have found some really cool things, for sure, but this thread is about the guitars I've picked and fixed.
The red bass we found a few years back in no working order to speak of. All we did was disconnect the tone pot, let the kids have at it with some paint, and all was well.
The black SG was someone's mod gone wrong. The neck was silicon putty'd in place,, you know, the stuff they use in bathrooms? Yeah, that stuff. It needed a neck plate and a tail piece, which Pete at south Jersey Guitar repair took care of. He also made this thing one of our best players. Action like buttah!
Our latest is a Black and Yellow Strat knockoff was found in two different locations, the neck seems to fit in the joint fine though, and we're going to finish the paint job tomorrow, and throw some spare parts on and see what fits. Laz(my 10year old son) and I are doing the paint. His(and Eddie Van Halen's) design.
Anyone else want to show their best from the trash pile?
Edit: Damn, my lawn photographs well.
