Well, if it's only one of the three, I'd take the strat. As someone mentioned above, they don't care for the quack sound. I do (heck, Knopfler, Wilsey, etc... can't be all wrong).

Fortunately, I've already got a great strat.

I like tele's, they look great and are comfortable.

I've got an LP, but it's sitting in it's case. Just doesn't get a lot of play. I'm thinking of trading it for a Jet.

I have them all and if weight is keeping you from a Les Paul you should consider the CR8 series. This one weighs 7.3Lbs, less than my JazzMaster and sounds like a "59", nothing but soul.

Just one huh.. Well i like all three too, but the Les is too heavy so that's out, it would've been a P90 one btw.

The Strat ,i've owned 4,have been thinking about getting another one lately.

But when i hear what Danny Gatton or Scotty Anderson do with a Tele!

So its got to be a Tele.

You should have all three. LP for rock, Strat for blues, and the Tele does it all. If you go with a Tele, i would recommend a 4-way switch upgrade. Position 4 gives you the fattest tone with higher output. And upgrade the pickups to CS Nocasters. They are unreal.

I've had all three. After I started playing Rockabilly I decided I didn't want a Strat again. I had an American Deluxe Tele a few years ago that I traded towards a Gibson Les Paul Standard. I wish I still had that Tele. I've owned several Gibson Les Pauls over the past few years, but currently only have one.

I've been thinking about getting a new Tele, but there is a vintage Double Annie that I'd like to get first.

That's our choice? Not a second Gretsch, not something of our choice - just StraTelePaul?

I guess I'd grab the Tele...unless the Paul, as so many have said, was a Jr/Special variety with P90s. Then I'd be confused.

If either had a trem, that would make the decision.

I said you could have as many Gretsches as you want. This is just an additional guitar.

Glad to see the Teles and LPs getting love. And my only LP had P90s, so maybe I'm swayed. LPs sure look silly with Bigsbies, and it's a shame. There need to be more vibratos on LPs!

well, I already have a Les Paul and a Stratocaster. I've never cared for the Telecaster. of course, I used to say that about the Strats, too. maybe if I came across the right one. but for now, I'm happy.brent

Right. Limiting anyone to only one Gretsch is a sadistic form of torture. How can anyone choose between a Jet and a hollowbody? Or a 6120 vs. a Club? Etc. That's just unfair.

But we can happily pick amongst the leftover, inferior guitars. There are certainly other guitars I'd pick as well, an LP and Tele are by no means the end for me. Strats are useless as we've proven () but there's dozens of other awesome guitar types.

And acoustics, yeah that's a totally different game.

I have the best of all three in my Peavey T-60 (a brilliantly thought-out and still underrated guitar). Maple neck and fingerboard, ash body, humbuckers that sustain like a Lester (but without the muddiness some LP's are prone to), tone controls that roll out one coil to give those crisp Fender-y tones, and a phase reversal switch for those few occasions where the strat "quack" is called for.

i would pick a Les Paul only because I already have a Strat and a Telecaster. I'm not really a fan of Les Pauls...but if I had to have one it would also have to be the 54 Les Paul Custom with the P90's.

Like many of you, I've had all three; don't have any of them anymore.

And like many of you, I think a LP Special with Bigsby and P90's might be nice... but isn't likely to ever make its way to my arsenal.
