Just wondering if anyone on the pages is working on something cool-- here are pics of my 2 latest projects. One is a korean casino w/ seymour duncan antiquity p90's, cream cover, john lennon grommet, fender style knobs and a transplanted 'E' logo among other things. The other is a discontinued epi model called the invader-- basically a les paul junior w/ a humbucker instead of a p90. I swapped the humbucker for a gibson p94 and put a variton in place of the tone switch-- oh and there's a snake decal ala slash--ha... Anyways, that's just a start, I hope lots of people post pics of their projects-- happy holidays!

Man, seems like I always have a project going. Here's the latest, a late 50's Premier archtop (United body) with Franz pickups(different than the Guild types) but sound super good. Needs new binding, the correct tailpiece, some tuners etc. Should be a fun guitar when it's done.

Here's my project guitar. I think it's done. I can't think of anything else to upgrade or make better. It's perfect just as it is! If I could put double mute's on it like Harrison's country gentleman I would, but without access to the back it's almost impossible. I'd do it more for looks and occassional use, but mostly just because I think it looks cool, even though most people on here hate mutes. I think they're quirky, like me! lol

well, my Dot will be going under the knife soon! i'm thinking Mean 90s, and the "Gretsch" control layout (master volume, master tone, individual pickup volumes), but, we'll see…
oh, and it'll have a Bigsby, too, sooner or later! but, probably later…

JBJ, did you buy that from Chris C in Va.? Here is my current project: A '83 Gibson Les Paul Studio. Maple plugs added to the bushing holes and a 50's LP trapeze bridge installed. Gold barrel knobs and a creme jack plate. Up top new Gold/aged tulip tipped tuners. Soon to add creme soapbar P90's and pick guard.

Setzer, no I got it from some guy in Arizona, I have seen some of these for sale lately, wish I could find some more of these pickups, nice sound. These are the same bodies that D'Angelico used when they made laminated guitars. The thought crossed my mind to make and fit a D'Angelico neck, but I think I'll just restore it as is.
Shelton, NICE L-7 project there, those guitars kill.

theprogressions - That's a nice lookin' Casino! The lighting almost looks like a goldtop.
Wenz - Kudos on having the gusto to drill on your Club... a perfect mix of classy and just-slightly-overthetop. Whenever I finally get a Falcon, it's going to get stereo pups, switches and a couple of superfluous knobs.
Setz - Bizarre... I have a junked-up '83 LP that's getting the patch-and-mod job as well. Thinking of an Old-Black type, with some crackly textured rust paint on the back.
Proot - Tell you what, I'll finish our recording project when you show us the guitarro mysterio.
Some more past and future voided warranties:
Dean Stylist w/ Filters & Hofner dressing
Thinking of something to do with a nondescript Hagstrom, I don't know.
Some kind of Strat/Jag/VI thing?
Have to get good n' drunk to drill on a $3,000 guitar...

dignan, yeah it was scary, but once I started drilling (reaming is more like it) there was no turning back. I used a peg hole reamer to do it by hand so I wouldn't slip with the drill or crack the spruce top.
tartan phanton, I think I searched for red felt discs on ebay before. They are for sewing machines I think, but I too haven't had much luck finding any more when I tried a few months ago. Try finding a sewing machin parts store or something. It is just slightly bigger than a gretsch knob as you can see in my pic above and they have a small hole predrilled in the center of the felt. I use sharp scissors to widen it to the width of the pots and then they are secured by the nut that holds the pot to the body. They're pretty thin too, maybe 1/16 of an inch thick or so??? I think I have a few left overs, but not enough for a gretsch. Good luck finding some!

Now why didn't I think of that? Thanks for the info, there are a couple of sewing machine stores in town, I plan to check with them first.

I have three, count them THREE projects in my head using 5120s as the base. All but one doesn't require a nice finish at all so B stocks would be OK, but man oh man, they'd be awesome. One of them is codenamed Proteus!
But no details will be revealed until they actually start getting made.
