Couldn't agree with you more Ratrod. Based on a very informal comparison of the Squire Classic Vibe Jazz Bass and the MIM Standard Jazz Bass, I preferred the Classic Vibe. IMO, the Classic Vibe had better fret work and the vintage tinted gloss finished neck just felt better(more like an MIM vintage reissue/but with the modern convenience of trussrod access at the headstock). The MIM Standard was a very decent bass, but the satin finished neck, along with fret ends that could have been finished better, felt more like an "import" albeit a decent one. The Vintage Vibe which doesn't come w/ a case or bag even with the addition of a nice semi-hard case was still almost 100.00 less than the MIM Standard which includes a bag. Of course my 16 yr old son, who believes he is compromising by not insisting on a USA made Fender, would never let reality get in the way of what he thinks
