Hey all-
new member here. I have a solid body double cutaway, I think it's a reissue duojet, maybe 15 years old. Bigsby tremelo, black finish. The pickups are quite low, perhaps a quarter inch from the strings, and they are out as far as they will go. The poles are close to flush with the surface of the pickups. I find that the sound is muddier and it lacks punch, even if it's just the bridge pickup.
Does this sound right? Should I bring the poles way out to get them closer to the strings? Are there other tricks for getting the pickup closer to the strings? (The bridge is almost against the body, can not be lowered any more.)
One other weird issue: The neck does not line up well with the bridge. In order to have the strings close to parallel to the neck, I needed to push the bridge all the way against the spring of the Bigsby. Does that sound weird to you?
I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
