I've been getting pretty heavy into the upcoming election lately, and although my views fall pretty squarely on one side of the spectrum (although certainly not in one party), I think one of the purest forms of Patriotism is hearing from the 'other' side, in a sane manner.
I think we can all agree that the Founding Fathers were (by and large) brilliant. No other Democracy has stood so long and so steadfast, and few countries have come under such attack. But we manage to come out on top, because of the framework laid out by those brilliant gentleman. I think we can also agree that they did not agree on everything. They had debates, they had heated arguments - hell, half of the Colonies almost left the union before a country was even established (due to the war).
But they persevered, because they were dignified. Many people today are polarized to the point that they can't even have a decent conversation. I think that's a damn shame.
Here's what this topic is - I'm not asking you to say anything long or get into massive arguments, those probably won't go anywhere. The only question I'm wondering, is:
Right or Left?
That's all! I'm just wondering what comprises the userbase here, generally speaking. Most musicians seem to lean more left, but I have a suspicion that some of the 'good ol' boys' on here lean more right.
As for myself? I lean right, basically. Moreso economically/internationally than socially, but all in all I lean right. And I'm a registered Libertarian (although I certainly don't expect anyone else to divulge their party).
Anyways, I really think this topic can be fruitful and respectful - and I probably don't even need the disclaimer. I only include it because other forums aren't nearly as tactful and respectful as this one.
