Jim, has anyone shown you how to search these pages effectively? There is a thread on here, I believe that Proteus may have started it, but the key is to use Google, add some key words and then close it off by typing site:gretschpages.com at the very end. This will search for the keywords on Gretsch Discussion Pages. For example, on this one, I went to Google and typed: airline + overhead + guitar site:gretschpages.com and it took me to that one thread. It is really a great way to search the site. In fact, it is so much more effective than the search feature that we had on the GDP that Baxter, I believe, removed the search feature altogether from the GDP.
EDIT: For some reason, the default on this site adds the letters "http:// in front of "site:gretschpages.com". However, you need to ignore those and not use them.

I flew with a guitar this weekend with that TSA letter in hand. They have no problem on larger jets with letting you carry it on because it fits in the overhead compartment. If you happen to get on a smaller regional flight, in which the overhead compartment is too small, you might be able to use the crew closet up front, or you might have to "Valet" check it - which means they take it from you at the door of the plane and place it in a compartment in the nose of the plane somewhere. I guess that's still better than checking it at the ticket counter.
