i would have said the 5120 as the best selling gretsch of late.
i also feel the new 5122 will do as well,if not better in sales then the 5120.

Here's the deal with Duane's picks. Since I have known him, there are just a few times that I can remember him getting new picks. I swear, he has used the same picks for years. They're so small, I would lose them constantly. He tucks one between the guard and the body, and a thumbpick is hung right above the nut.
Doyle Dykes gave him a couple of thumbpicks a few years ago, and recently, I found a couple of flat picks in a box from ancient times. Other than that, there's no excess of used picks in this house.

Deed, I remember asking this a while back, last time you mentioned the guard/body thing but I don't think you saw my question. Does the guard on his Gibson get that close to the body in places? I mean, looking at my Gretsch (or remembering it rather) I could only think Gibson's design is close at least in the way it's designed maybe, but I was just curious.

I have been very very busy this morning to make up for indulging myself in the concert last night.
(But let me just mention a few highlights of the concert. I sat with Joe & Steve Hunter and their ladies, along with Tom Nix, Bootmaker. About 30 feet from the stage. Highlights?
Well, many. Cindy Cashdollar for one, nonstop liquid joy on lap steel. Also the tone of the Falcon bass, a devastating tonal assault from Dick Dale, two of the hottest little-known Tele chickenshredderpickers you're likely to hear, GE Smith gettin' it done, some pure blues truth from Jimmie Vaughn and Billy Gibbons, and GE, Cindy, Billy, and the Tele wranglers trading licks.)
So what's coming? Sound clips of the three Gretsch pro amps, a bracing comparison (parallel vs trestle vs the new ML), back-to-back same-amp sound clips of the 5120 vs the 512x...and more, always more.
Detail pics and a play report on the 6128 Relic, and news news news.
Some of this will take awhile to process and post, so be patient. When it hits, it'll be worth it.
