I have one of those Tascam MKII's. I'm pretty low-tech, so I'm not the most knowledgeable or efficient user of such things (hi-tech comparison shoppers may know of a better product!), but I like it quite a lot. It seems to do everything I want (and a few things I'd rather it not go to the trouble of doing!).
It will definitely put your timing in shape, as working alongside any recording would do; but with the multiple slow-speed options, the process doesn't feel merciless and relentless.
