Good thing it's ugly. I'd have hated to 'have' to buy it.
Good craftsmanship I suppose, and I respect the work in it, but it's just not what I want or like in a guitar. But if it was one of Setzer's personal Teles (if he has any which I don't think so), I'd have been required to buy it.

That reminds me of one of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies where Freddy rips his shirt open and all the faces of his victims are shrunk and sticking out of his chest screaming.
Maybe, I've seen too much Halloween stuff lately.

Ick. If "Brian Setzer" wasn't carved into it, I'd have though it was a Ronnie Milsap guitar.
Better carving than I could do though, and I'm sure it takes a ton of time. I really don't like it though.
I'm guessing it's marketed as more as a "rock-art piece" for collectors of this sort of thing than a cool guitar. The price seems "arty" as well. As a player, if I had that kind of money, I can think of a ton of other guitars I'd buy.
If I were an investor or collector of art, high end guitars or rock memorabilia, I can think of craploads of other stuff I'd buy to get a better return on my investment as well.

+1 for the Ronnie Milsap comparison...priceless!
i particularly liked the suggestion in the listing that a guitar with an opening bid of $3400 would make a nice Christmas gift.
for that much you could get a White Falcon, a tank of gas, and a couple of cartons of Marlboros.

But you wouldn't have a rockabilly icon baroquely carved in singularly non-rockabilly style in a singularly non-rockabilly medium into the body of a guitar he has never been associated with, all for no discernible reason.
You wouldn't have this singularity in all the universe, not only in its execution but in the bizarre randomness of its inspiration.
How do you put a price on that?

and if it sounded lousy (and what are the chances of that
) you could hang it from your porch like a demented pub sign.

Can you imagine opening that Christmas gift--"Well Honey, I know how much you love Brian Setzer so I got you this!"
BTW, here's Brian with a Tele and an odd version of "Rock this Town." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chTGE3A_H5A

For me, that would be time to get another divorce (it's not such an ugly word as long as you don't capitalize it:)
BTW, Thanks dubkitty, I thought I was the only one who would get the Ronnie Milsap joke. I wonder if one could glue some gigantic novelty sunglasses onto the portrait without ruining its "value".
