I asked about Route 66 and got some great responses - particular thanks to Timthom62, Mark Synchro and jazzbo for some really eloquent prose and memories. I really enjoyed reading those - and a vote up for those I haven't voted up yet.
It's interesting because I would be hard pushed to write about a road in England that would generate even a fraction of the romance and glory that Route 66 did - and still does.
For example - I still remember the popular global TV series of R66 in the 60's with George K and Martin M. Could you imagine a similarly succesful global TV series called M25 - or A1M - or Old Kent Road! No!
