There have been a few threads lately about if you could only have one Gretsch, and, what would your custom Gretsch be? I've really enjoyed these threads so I decided to try one myself.
If you were invited to "JAM" with any guitar artist alive today (only one); who would choose?
My pick: DUANE EDDY
its a tough question; would you be jamming with them so you could say you jammed with them?
or because you wanted to hear them playing and have your riffs and rythems affect how they play ?
because you just want to connect musically with that person?
Or just because it would be fun?
I had a dream where andy summers from the police pulled out of a police gig, and I took over his parts.
Maybe I should start another thread: "which guitarist would you most like to fight with?"
oh and if the question was who would you most like to jam with alive or dead fictitious or real any instruments, i'd say sherlock holmes, he could play some mean fiddle.

Well, if it was who you would like to get a lesson from it would be Brain Setzer or Jim heath. I have a feeling if a had a chance to play with either I may never touch my guitar, and just stand there dumbfounded.
As for jamming I think it would have to be Charlie Baty, with Larry Carlton a very close second.
For me, it would be Rick Miller of Southern Culture On The Skids. One of the most versatile players I have ever seen and an avid guitar collector as well!

Good points, all of the 4. I'm sure it would be fun, and I would like to see how my playing affected the artist's playing. Being able to say you had jammed with them would be ego stroking and hopefully, you would connect musically.

well id like to learn from people like the rev and setzer (out of those who are alive). Josh Homme is also pretty awesome. i think it would be cool to jam with a really great blues harpist . I always tend to prefer jaming with someone when they're playing a different instrument, theres more difference in the sounds and it makes a bigger sound i think. when i have a friend round who starts playing guitar i like to go for the bass or harp, or banjo for that reason.
I'd want to jam with Brian Setzer. Hands down, that guy always looks like he's having the time of his life when he's playing.
I always wanted to play with John Cipollina, the Bay Area great who was best known as the dominant guitar voice in Quicksilver Messenger Service. i thought i could do a good job of backing him, because i know his style back to front and knew exactly where to put it to make him shine. but i was a crazy smurfed-up guy when i moved to California at the beginning of the 1980s (and not in a good way), and by the time i was beginning to get my life together he was dead.
somewhere in Bizarro World there's a dude who had a happy life taking advantage of all the chances i've blown. i wish i was him.

aw, hell, they're supposed to be alive. all right, then, David Lindley. i could learn more from Jim Hall or Richard Thompson, but Mr. Dave would probably be more fun than anybody else i can think of. i'd say Doc Watson or David Grisman, but i'm not even in missile range of the kind of chops i'd need to play with those guys.

HEY BEAR, GLAD YOU'RE FEELING BETTER. I think sometimes that any of the usual suspects, setzer, heath, duffy, or poison ivy. I have been thinking latly that ideally, I would like to jam with all of us here. not area location kinda thing but everyone europe, asia, state side, oz and everywhere else. I think if we could all get a three day weekend to go deaf. That would be my vote

No, my real passion is jazz but between being kinda hard to play at a "jam", difficult for everyone to follow and the fact that I suck.

For music Radiohead - I think I'd learn a lot. For guitar, the Edge or possibly some player who plays a completely different way to the way I do, so I'd learn something new. Not sure who that would be though... perhaps a jazz player?
There is a documentary movie coming out in January - (I think it's called something like, "It Might Get Loud) it features three guitar players: Jimmy Page, Edge, and Jack White.
