Recently bought this lovely. Before I bought it, i tried to do some research on the Internet and was surprised to discover that I couldn't find a photo of a Cadillac Green anywhere, nor could I get an idea as to what they're worth. It was in such great condition, I went and bought it anyway.
This is the actual photo, cropped on a white background to show off the colours a little better.
Without going into details re. what I paid for it, anyone know what these '66 models sell for?

I'll agree I've never seen one of these in Cad Green, but I wasn't really looking either. Really interesting G-cut out (Bigsby style) vibrato on that guitar. Never seen one of those either! 
The vibrato's apparently particular to the cadillac green models. The other colours were affixed with a Bigsby. It's a Gretsch construction, with an adjustable length arm. Fun gadgets all over it.

Looks almost identical save for the Bigsby.
I wouldn't doubt if the bigsby on the above pic is aftermarket. Looks too new IMO...
That vibrato looks like the love child created from the mating of a normal G-cut out tailpiece and a B6 Bigsby... genetic engineering! 
These are actually White Falcons painted green without the glitz. I think the top one has the tuning fork, but what's the thing going into the body from the string bar? The bottom one doesnt have that?
it's a mute device. the bottom one has it also, you just can't see it as well. the knob just above the pickup switch is used to raise and lower the device, which is moved through levers inside the body, and itself is constructed of rubber. kind of useless, actually.
I was talking about the thing that goes through the Bigsby bar and into the body on the top photo, I know about the mutes. Is it to lock the Bigsby from moving?
what is the thing immediately in front of the bridge? Is that a "floating pickup"?

jazz - the tremolo's actually not a Bigsby, although it looks like a Bigsby on the second guitar. re. the thing going into the body, i actually don't know what it's for. it goes into the body, and seems to be loosely connected to some sort of a support apparatus, which is part of an internal extension of the tremolo unit.
joe - the thing in front of the bridge is the floating pickup. it's held in place by weaving the strings through it. the reverse end is a tuning fork which floats within the body cavity through a hole, and ads additional resonance when you play it. adjusting the right intonation is a bit of a trial and test process, but once you get it, the sound's great.
jazz - just had a closer look, and it seems that the bit going into the body is propped against a resistance unit, powered by a sping, meaning that the part going into the guitar is what gives the premolo its resistance, versus a Bigsby which if I recall, has the sping/coil on the outside of the guitar.

The Bigsby on your Viking is a Gretsch telescoping model, these are normally found on White Falcons from 1964 onwards. As the Viking was also a high end model it also came equipped with similar features to the White Falcons of the period.

Badams - tremolo, in fact, means a change in tones, not volume. I recommend you check a dictionary.
Drew - thanks for that. I've been doing some reading on it and that seems to be the general consensus, but a little cooler because of the viking's limited run, in particular, the cadillac green model. the cool thing's that according to the serial number, it was made in december of '66 and it was guitar number 132 for that year, meaning that there couldn't have been more than 150 made in '66. am i right in this?

comradery - very thematic. i'm actually living and working in moscow, russia right now, and i found this guitar from a guy here in moscow. the most incredibly filthy apartment i've ever visited, but cluttered with all kinds of old and rare guitars. i like to think that i "rescued" this gretsch.
