SInce the "burst" refin on the guitar kinda sucks.... ya think I should just shoot the top all black and kinda 'relic' it black to match the rest?
To re-refin or not to re-refin ?????

I had my Chet Atkins 1965 Tennessean refinished in Nitrocellulose Black and it looks great. However you must be careful with Nitrocellulose because a lot of things react with it like the foam on Guitar Stands

Looks like someone was a little trigger happy with the black. Never seen the black go that deep.
Either black or natural?

I vote for a refin, natural would look awesome on that guitar.
Best of luck!

That is a neat guitar. Looks like it has some mojo. I can't see why you shouldn't refinish it if you have done that sort of thing before. May as well go for a burst first. If that doesn't work out for you you can always finish off a full black paint job.
For what it is worth, I'm seeing black sparkle for some reason. Maybe even a stylized spark plug painted on there for good measure. One of the twisted tattoo flash type designs.

Why not? I get the feeling that you are the kind of guy who has the cojones to sport a guitar with that kind of image.
Of course, a solid black or a burst job would look very nice.

I think its beautiful the way it is and wouldnt touch it. As far as I'm concerned a large amount of black is the only way to do a burst

How about completely natural, like Lennon's Casino?

With all that gold hardware on it already, and it's 17" wide body... might you consider a nice antique white? It will never be a White Falcon, but boy... it would look close without much more than a refin. I imagine it would be equally as flashy on stage as a flame job, and that old wood with those Dyna's will sound so great!
