Jet-Head's Bio

I've been playing the guitar for 40 some odd years. My guitar collection is currently at 17. The collection consists entirely of acoustic guitars except for my recently purchased (June 2007) Gretsch Pro Jet. When I was a teenager, I had a mid-60's Gretsch Corvette that I lost in a house fire. I put the insurance money towards a Brazilian D28 ($525 in 1969!) While this started a long string of guitar purchases, I always wanted to own another Gretsch. I went to buy an Electromatic Corvette but remembered that I originally wanted a Duo Jet but could only afford the Corvette at that time. At the last minute I switched my buying preference from the Corvette to the Jet and have been tickled with my decision. Though my Jet was manufactured in China, it is very, very, well made. (as confirmed by my USA-snobbish guitar tech) Though this was my first Gretsch purchase in over 40 years, it certainly won't be my last.

Jet-Head's Songs:
Hymn For John Hartford
When my friend John Hartford died, I wrote this song for John's wife, Marie. Sadly, before I could get to a studio to make a proper recording of it, she too passed away. This is the original demo version, recorded in my living room. It is unedited, and unenhanced and was recorded in one sitting direct to minidisk using a Sony ECMMS907 Digital Recording Microphone pointed approx 45 degrees at the 12th fret. I am playing a Louden O23, cedar and walnut guitar. I used no picks. It is softly recorded and has squeaks galore which I hope can be considered song "character".
Waltz For Ashley
A wedding song for a family friend, this was the song that the bride and her dad danced to at the reception. I used a Taylor 514, cedar and mahogany guitar and recorded this demo at Circa Music in Dublin, OH.
